Enquiries on a board
Business that has not happened yet, on a board by stage, weighted by what it is worth, and closed only by somebody saying what became of it.
An enquiry is not a booking. A booking is a room, a rate and dates; an enquiry is a wedding in November that may be forty rooms and a hall, or nothing. It needs a place to live before it is either, and a shape that forces somebody to say what became of it.
The board
Columns are stages — new, qualified, proposal sent, negotiating, won, lost. Cards are enquiries: the party, the dates, the rooms, the venue, the estimated value, the owner. The board is weighted: a proposal at sixty per cent counts for more than a first call.
Closing
An enquiry leaves the board won — it becomes a booking, linked — or lost, with a reason from the hotel's own list. It does not fall off the bottom.
Who works it
Each enquiry has an owner, and the board can be read by owner, by stage, or as the value by stage for the quarter.
