For a city hotel the wedding is often the larger revenue line than the rooms, and the software usually treats it as an afterthought. Here a hall is a room that sells by the hour, with a diary per venue, and an event is a booking with a deposit, an order the kitchen holds, and a ledger of its own.
From enquiry to invoice
- The enquiry sits on the sales board, weighted by stage, owned by a person, until it is won or lost with a reason.
- The booking is a slot in the venue's diary — setup, event, pack-down — that refuses a clash and holds a deposit as client money.
- The event order is printed from the booking: timings, setup, the menu course by course, the bar, the equipment, the guarantee, the contacts.
- The bill follows the guarantee or the attendance, whichever is more, on the same folio as the party's rooms or on its own, with GST at each line's slab.
- The books tag the florist's bill and the contract staff to the event and read its margin when the last bill is in.
With the restaurant
The kitchen that serves the hall is the kitchen with the store: the event's food is issued and costed like any cover.
