Channel manager Live

An oversell is not a failure

An overbooking allowance per type, and a booking that lands into a full type goes on the chart waiting for a room — visible, draggable, decided by the desk.

Every channel manager promises to prevent overbooking and every hotel is overbooked anyway, because a busy night's last two bookings cross in the air. The product's answer is not to pretend it cannot happen.

The allowance

Per type, the hotel says how many rooms past its count the channels may sell. Zero for a small hotel; two or three for a city hotel that knows its no-show rate.

The booking that lands into a full type

It is applied — the guest, the price, the payer, all of it — and given no room. It sits in its type's lane on the chart, drawn as a card, draggable into any room that frees up, upgradeable a category if none does. It is in the arrivals list; it is in the reservations list; it is never invisible.

What the desk does

Drag it into the room that a cancellation just opened; or upgrade it; or, on the day, walk the guest to the sister hotel from the CRS. Each is one move with a name on it.
