Restrictions
Minimum stay, closed to arrival, stop sell, a closed date — written once, shown above the chart, and pushed to every channel.
A restriction is a rule on a night: the guest must stay at least two, no arrivals on this date, do not sell this type on that one, the hotel is closed on the other. Each is a dated row a manager writes once, and every screen that sells reads it.
Where a restriction is applied
- The quote at the desk refuses a stay that breaks one and says which rule.
- The booking page hides what cannot be sold rather than failing at the last step.
- The CRS shows the sister hotel's availability against its own rules.
- The channel manager pushes the same rows to the OTAs in their own words — MinLOS, CTA, CTD, stop-sell.
The desk can open and close what is for sale
A room type or a date can be opened or closed from the desk by a role that has the right; a room can be blocked from the chart with a reason. Both are restrictions the channel is told about in the same minute.
What is not a restriction
An overbooking allowance is a number of rooms a hotel is willing to sell past its count, per type, and a channel booking that arrives into a full type is not a failure — it is a booking waiting for a room, on the chart in its own lane, and the desk decides.
