The GST slab

The slab follows the tariff by law. The system reads the rate on the night and applies the slab in force — and a channel price that says tax zero is a price with the tax inside it.

GST on a hotel room is not a setting. It is a function of the tariff on the night, in the slab table in force on that date, and a hotel that crosses a threshold owes the new rate from the night it crosses. So the product does not ask the hotel which slab it is in; it reads the rate and applies the slab.

A price with the tax inside it

Some OTAs state their tax as zero — not unknown, zero. That is a price the guest has already paid with GST inside it. The night is posted at the taxable base that gives the stated total, not at the stated total plus tax again. A guest who paid ₹2,695 to the channel is not charged ₹135 on top at the desk.

The restaurant

Food carries its own slab, service charge is taxable, and the bill prints HSN codes per line. An outlet sets its GST groups once and every dish belongs to one.

What is written

Every posting carries its taxable base, its slab, its CGST and SGST (or IGST), so the return is prepared from the postings and agrees with the invoices to the rupee.

A room is priced by who sleeps in itSingle, double, triple, the extra bed, the child under six and the child under twelve — the quote reads the occupancy, and the channel receives the same table.
