The rate agreed is the rate carried
The price on the booking is the price the night is posted at. The desk may name it until the guest leaves; after that a change is a note, not an edit.
A rate is agreed on the phone, on the booking page, or on the OTA, and then the guest stays. Nothing between those two moments should change the number without a person deciding to. So the rate on a booking is carried, night by night, into the postings exactly as agreed, and the season being re-priced afterwards does not touch a stay already taken.
Who may name the price
- The desk may name the price on a booking, within its ceiling, until the guest leaves — a walk-in negotiated at the counter, a regular who is always given the same number.
- A discount is a decision with a name on it: a percentage or an amount, a reason from the hotel's own list, the login that gave it.
- An OTA's price arrives with the booking and is not rewritten by hand — the channel is the authority on what it sold.
What the night audit posts
Each night is posted at the rate on the booking for that night, with its slab, as an itemised line on the folio. The revenue report reads those lines; so does the ledger; so does the return.
