Where the business came from
Walk-in, phone, the hotel's page, a company, an agent, an OTA — on every booking, coloured on the chart, cut by every report, and deciding who is billed.
A hotel's month is not one number; it is where the number came from. Every booking carries its source, set when it is taken, editable by a role that may, and defaulting sensibly — a booking from the page is direct, a booking from the channel is that OTA, a booking with a company on it is corporate.
Where it is read
- The chart colours the bar by it, so a glance across a week says how much of it the OTAs sold.
- The revenue and production reports cut by it — source, OTA, company, agent.
- The channel report reads OTA production against commission.
- The CRM reads what a company or an agent is worth from it.
What it decides
Who is billed. A company booking's bill can be transferred to the company's account; an OTA's booking is prepaid or pay-at-hotel as the OTA said; an agent's booking carries the agent's commission. The source is not a label — it is the first fact the invoice reads.
