Night audit & operations Live

The desk stops until the day is closed

When yesterday has not been audited, today's check-ins wait — because a room charged on the wrong date is a wrong invoice, and a wrong invoice is a credit note.

A hotel whose night audit has not run is on yesterday's date. Every posting made on it lands on yesterday's day, and every invoice issued on it carries yesterday's date. So the desk is told — the card says the day stopped on such a date, so many hours behind — and check-in waits until the day is closed.

Why it is not silent

The alternative, which most systems choose, is to let the desk carry on and to reconcile the mess at month end. Here the mess is refused at the door in one sentence, and closing the day is one press.

In the demo

The demo hotels on this site are exactly this case: nobody works their front desk, so their date falls behind the moment they are seeded. The notice is hidden in the screenshots because it is true of the demo and says nothing about the product.
